The Human Rights Defense Center (HRDC) filed a Comment with the FCC notifying them of the Virginia DOC’s prison phone rate of $0.0409 for all calls effective December 1, 2015.
HRDC has long advocated for a $0.05/min rate for all inmate phone calls. Global Tel*Link CEO Brian Oliver confirms this can be done:
“This is an excellent example of how partners who share common goals can work together to reduce the cost of phone calls to friends and family members and still provide the necessary security and safety features to protect the public.” (emphasis added) [Attachment 1 at Page 1]
