Jobs Not Jails

Together, we are building the infrastructure to engage thousands of people in a campaign to stop $2 billion of prison construction, and re-direct those funds into creating good jobs for people in low-income, high-crime neighborhoods.

Next Jobs NOT Jails Statewide Meeting:

Saturday, December 6th 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Freedom House
5 Crawford Street
Dorchester, MA 02121

We are planning to gather again on December 6 at Freedom House, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., to continue hammering out our collective vision. Please mark your calendars and plan to be there! As we enter the new year, we will continue to refine our vision, so that once we begin the next exciting phase of action and escalation, we'll get it right.

In the meantime, the steering committee of Jobs NOT Jails organizers are working on two fronts: 1) to digest the feedback from the broader group and help guide JNJ into this new phase; and 2) to draft legislation related to the Jobs side of Jobs Not Jails.

As you gear up for December 6, I encourage you to watch the film 'The Children's March' about a critical moment in the Civil Rights Movement: Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. This film is incredibly inspiring and holds some important lessons for building a movement. 'The Children's March' is available to watch here:
