Officials confirm large fight at Cimarron Correctional Facility

Jun 10, 2015 | by Lynn Powell

CUSHING, Okla. —

The Cimarron Correctional facility has confirmed a large fight broke out at the prison.

Officials said the fight started between inmates just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and lasted nearly 45 minutes.

Officials said at least people 12 were injured.

No guards were involved in the fight, and no staff injuries have been reported.

There were weapons present when things broke out.

Assistance was called in from Creek County.

The correctional facility has been placed on complete lockdown so guards can check for any other injuries and investigate further.

The lockdown means that there is no movement within the facility without the escort of a guard, and all inmates are locked in their cells.

FOX23 has a crew on the way and will update this story with more information as soon as it becomes available.
