May 20, 2016 | by Rachel Corey

Call on your Senator to support $ for job training for folks returning from incarceration as well as finding jobs for court-involved youth. #JobsNotJails

Call your Senator now to sign onto be a co-sponsor S761 amendment. Please call your Senator and ask them to co-sponsor Amendment S761! Don't know who your legislators are? Find out: http://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/
Example call script:

"Hi, I am _____________, a constituent of Senator _________________. I'm calling to ask Senator _____________ to co-sponsor budget amendment S761, 'Reentry Demonstration Workforce Development,' which would support job training for people who are formerly incarcerated and court involved youth to get jobs. Recidivism rates in Massachusetts are staggering, and we need more mechanisms to support people who are re-entering society from incarceration or who are currently court-involved. Please co-sponsor budget amendment S761 and vote for it when it comes to a vote. Thank you."

Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz is back at it again! As lead Senate sponsor of our omnibus bill, she continues to actively support #JobsNotJails. The Senate budget process was no different. She introduced amendment S.761, "Reentry Demonstration Workforce Development," which supports job training for people who are formerly incarcerated and court involved youth to get jobs. She asked for $2,000,000! This is a big step in the right direction.

The Senate will vote on the budget next week, so time is of the essence. Get those calls in now!
