The New York Times has followed up its September 23, 2012 editorial, “Costly Calls for Inmates,” with another push for phone justice.
The November 27, 2012 editorial “A Needless Charge for Prison Families” highlights the commissions that states receive on profits from the phone calls, driving up the rates and making calls unaffordable for families of prisoners.
The editorial encourages the FCC to “act to end the burdensome charges that can make a single phone call from prison as expensive as an entire month of home phone service.” Read more.
