Many families have lost their visitation privileges with their loved ones for two years to life, due to substance abuse tickets.
Several families have contacted us regarding long-term loss of their visits, due to their inmate having two substance abuse tickets. Why should prisoners, or their families, be punished by taking away visits when the infraction was not connected to visitations? The Department of Corrections states that family support and connectedness is one of the most important factors to a prisoner’s success upon returning into our communities. We are asking that these families and their loved ones have visits restored. The Department has met with us to listen to personal experiences, now we wait to see what decisions will be made.
